Abstract

ABSTRACT: The hotel sector has progressively adopted new business models oriented toward sustainable development, increasing the need for tools and indicators capable of measuring progress and supporting decision-making based on quantitative and qualitative information. In Cuba, the Iberostar Group has established itself as one of the leading hotel companies in integrating sustainability into hotel management. In this context, the main objective of this research is to assess the performance of sustainability indicators at the Iberostar Grand Packard Hotel, located in Havana, Cuba, by comparing two methodologies: the international EarthCheck certification system and a process-based procedure for assessing the sustainability of tourism destinations. The application of both methodologies made it possible to analyze the hotel's sustainability performance from different perspectives, compare the results obtained, and identify the main advantages and limitations of each assessment tool. The findings provide a comprehensive overview of the hotel's sustainability management and offer useful insights for strengthening assessment and decision-making processes aimed at sustainable development.
