Abstract

ABSTRACT: Iberostar has established itself as one of the leading international hotel groups by integrating a range of sustainability practices into its management model. These actions, supported by an organizational policy aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, can serve as a reference for the development of similar initiatives in other hotel chains. In this context, the main objective of this research is to identify the sustainability best practices implemented by Iberostar Group hotels in Cuba. To this end, interviews were conducted with managers from the group and from two selected properties: Iberostar Grand Packard, located in Havana, and Iberostar Selection Varadero, in the province of Matanzas. The comparative analysis made it possible to identify the main sustainability practices implemented in both hotels and to confirm a high degree of consistency in their application, despite their location in different geographical and tourism environments. The study also identified the main limitations affecting their implementation. The findings provide useful insights for sustainability management and may serve as a reference for other hotel chains operating in Cuba.
